At Arena, our goal is to have the best possible control over the data and information that we keep and that others share with us.
As part of this strategy, which Arena has followed since its early days, we run these open-source tools and services on our own servers or collaborate with trusted service providers in long-term partnerships. Our servers are located in Europe.
The tools we currently use are:
- File sharing and document editing: Nextcloud with an integrated online office
- Project management, work organisation, planning: calendar and task management integrated in Nextcloud (Calendar, Deck, Tasks) and OpenProject
- Video meetings: BigBlueButton
- Chat messaging: Matrix
- Surveys, Forms: Nextcloud Forms, Baserow
- Conference: Pretix for registration/ticketing and Pretalx for conference management
- Knowledge management: Nextcloud Collectives, Baserow, Wiki.js
- Data management: Baserow, Grist
- Websites: for websites which require a Content Management System we are using WordPress, and analytics with Plausible
Arena’s emails and websites are hosted by Greenhost (Netherlands)
For some areas, we rely on external providers, whom we select carefully:
- Conference programme: Sched
- For our public newsletters: Mailerlite
- For digital signatures: Yousign
