Journalists play a key role when it comes to assisting the public discourse on national issues, which are increasingly connected to regional and global developments. In order to cover issues with greater depth and accuracy, journalists are increasingly establishing peer-to-peer networks to exchange data and experiences – and investigate together.
Arena organizes and hosts the two annual conferences for investigative journalists:
Dataharvest – the European Investigative Journalism Conference, gathering around 530 journalists, editors and programmers in May or June in Mechelen, Belgium;
The Climate Arena, the meeting place for journalists and researchers working on climate and environmental issues across Europe, next to be held in Budapest, Hungary, on October 10-11, 2025.
