As of September 2023, Arena will be managed by a trio of competent colleagues – old and new.
Brigitte Alfter, founder of Arena, will resume her position as overall director of the organisation. Her main responsibilities will be the organisational overview, fundraising as well as editorial tasks.
Trine Smistrup, co-founder of Arena and director of Dataharvest, resumes her managing roles as she did in the early years of the organisation. Her main responsibilities in the time to come will be to assist with a variety of managerial and administrative tasks besides of course her ongoing editorial tasks.
Mikala Rasmussen, incoming operations manager, steps into a managerial role. Her main responsibilities will be to coordinate Arena’s management and administration as well as the organisational development. She will also support the fundraising efforts.
In the autumn 2023 and winter 2023/24, Arena will embark on a thorough strategy review. Almost five years old, Arena is deeply rooted in the journalist community and established as a specialist in collaborative, investigative, data and entrepreneurial journalism. Now is the right moment for the Arena team and board to take stock of our work and network so far and to develop the strategy for the years to come. As an integrated part of this work, we will also address the question of the future management structure.
